The Golf Society of Great Britain (The GSGB) was founded in 1955 with the object of promoting goodwill and providing funds to further the interest of the game in all its aspects.

It now has about 750 members and a variety of activities described below. The GSGB is a non-profit making association, run by a properly constituted executive committee elected annually by its members.

Meetings and Competitions

The Society has many trophies that are competed for at the 2-day meetings that are held in different locations around England, Scotland and Wales. The images on this page are either from our recent meetings or from courses that we are about to visit.

Participating Clubs

The Society has the support of its Participating Clubs. These clubs include some of the finest golf courses in the country and allow our members to play at a reduced green fee. See the Participating Clubs here.

Understandably there are some restrictions. Members must not live close to the course and need to make arrangements in advance. It is an appreciated privilege of membership but not a right.

Junior Tournaments

The Society sponsors golf tournaments for Junior Golfers who are under 14 on the day of the event. There are three events in 2020. Details can be found by clicking the link.

The Society runs Winter and Spring Golf Tours overseas and Summer & Autumn tours to different parts of the British Isles and nearby Europe.

Recent long haul tours have been to Italy, Tunisia, Austria, Argentina, Chile, South Africa, Kenya, Mauritius and Arizona and the Grand Canyon.
Tours closer to home have visited destinations such as Belgium, Loire Valley, The West of Ireland, Turkey, Austria, Scotland, Bulgaria, Greece and France.

These tours are not solely for golf and the participants can choose whether they want to play in every event or go on a variety of excursions. The tours are very popular and are enjoyed by all who take part. Early application is always advisable. Click the link in the index to see further details of this year's tours.
