Forty members of the society travelled to Chantilly in Northern France for a six night stay at the Dolce Chantilly hotel. Happily those travelling on the Eurotunnel had an incident free journey. We were very fortunate to have lovely weather throughout the week and some good golf was played. We played four great holiday courses in attractive surroundings
The first day we played at Apremont, a very pretty parkland course. This was a mixed team event and a lot of fun was had by all. The highlight of the day was a hole in one by Nigel Dickson who very kindly bought everyone a celebratory drink.
We played two Stableford rounds at Lys Chantilly and Chateau Raray. Lys Chantilly proved hard to find for quite a few people, as their sat navs took them to the greenkeepers sheds instead of the main entrance. Starter Nigel had quite a job re-arranging the pairings and calming everyone down.
The hotel course was the venue for the Ladies V Gentlemen. A hard fought contest played with much humour with the ladies managing to win by a narrow margin!.
On the last evening we enjoyed a Gala dinner followed by the prize presentation. Carol Newbrook from Sandiway golf club won the ladies main prize and Mike Day from Gog Magog won the Gentlemen's prize.
It was a large group to take on tour but it all worked really well. Everyone was on time (well mostly) and it was a pleasure to organise such a pleasant group.
