The benign conditions were ideal for scoring and we saw quite a few players take advantage, particularly on the Wandlebury course.
At Dinner we were joined by the club Captain Ivan Robinson and his wife Vicky. Ivan was presented with a cheque for £500 to be put towards the club’s junior section by GSGB Chairman Linda Hill. The Captain also received an additional £500 which will be used to cover costs at the October Junior Masters event. Members will be pleased to hear that Ivan and Vicky enjoyed themselves so much that they joined the Society the next day.
Congratulations to Nick Bye from Bath who registered the Society’s first hole in one for around five years on the 17th hole of the Old course. Although it cost Nick a few drinks he was rewarded with an engraved GSGB hole in one memento.
The Barlow Seniors Trophies were won by Peter Johnston from Alwoodley with an impressive aggregate total of 79 points and Clare Fulton from Woburn with 69 points. Congratulations to all prize winners. The full list can be seen below. A number of our members who are also members of Gog Magog joined us for dinner as well as helping out with starting duties. Thanks in particular to Michael Wymer, with some help from his wife Tish, and David Latham for their efforts.
This was the last meeting of the year; our next event will be on 22nd/23rd May at Northumberland and Hexham Golf Clubs. The rest of the 2014 fixtures can be found here on the website in the left hand index.
